From an e-mail I wrote to a friend of mine earlier....

You should definitely listen to the new Pearl Jam as soon as you get the chance. Mine came in the mail today. I have always been a huge fan. They're the reason I started playing guitar when I was 11. I wouldn't be afraid to tell you if I didn't like the new album either though. The last one had to grow on me. The one before I think was their weakest. But "Pearl Jam" is probably the best album as a whole that they've had since Vitalogy, in my humble opinion. Vedder thinks its the best thing they've ever done, and they have never made claims like that before. I don't blame them. It's the first album they've ever made that really encompasses everything I like about this band. I do talk about the album as a whole. The songs themselves might not be instant classics the way some are on even the weaker albums.

I'm still not sure how I feel about the avacodo cover. The inside artwork is really interesting though. Dark. Although apparantly there are some difference between the fan club release and retail.

Can't wait to see them in DC on 5/30!

Finally got around to getting this yesterday and really listening to it today. It is very very good. Tracks 3 and 13 are my favs. I think age has really done Eddie's voice well... i really dig the raspiness. Adds a bit of Bruce Springsteen flavor.
