Posted - 09/18/2001 : 09:54:49 AM I noticed on that equipment post on everybody that everyone had different kinds of amps(soild-state and tube). I was just wondering what everybody perfers: Solid-state or tubes and why? I'm a tube man because of the warm sounds and smoothness of them.

Posted - 09/18/2001 : 5:11:15 PM I prefer tube, like you said, warmer, and I believe you can get much louder with a tube than a SS for cheaper, hehe. But I really like the sounds I get from my Fender Ultimate Chorus, which is a solid state.
BTW anyone know the conversion from tube wattage to solid state wattage and visa versa? I heard you multiply the tube watts by either 3 or 4 to get the SS watts. Any ideas?
