sorry, my bad. you might be right about that, i never actually saw his wrists. i suppose i could stop by Stop 'N Go in Jtown (i guess he wasn't accepted to his elite musical college after all), but, i might as well wait for a high school reunion, or, if not then, rapture.

i'm going to have to strongly disagree with you about that 1st one. both myself and my friends heard it from the horses mouth. i will agree with the second one, many people just say it's a call for help.

saint jude, you have a really good site going on. can't listen to the songs yet, but when/if i get a landline, i sure as hell will. thanks.

I love Buckethead, but I don't think he's THAT great of a guitar player...Original, yes...but...Anyway, what I'm getting at is that I think the whole Bucket/Mask/Chicken/Disneyland thing is a little too far. He kinda relies too much on that personna for his fame...I think that if he actually showed his face and just played, I would respect him a lot more...He just relies on taht whole story to push him along more...I mean, I love his music to death, I really do, but I think that his Bucket thing was just a scheme to get attention...Unless, of course, his face really was scratched off by chickens...in that case, rock on brutha.
dan p. Posted - 11/05/2003 : 3:20:34 PM
i just realized you have the same guitar as me, st. jude. rock on.

you're right, if your in a band and you practice as school sometimes that's fine. it only makes sense. or if you're a music major and you pretty much need it every day for lessons and things. but just carrying it around for no reason at all, or to show off, is stupid. it's especially stupid if my mouse pad is better at guitar than the prick hauling the thing around.
and by the way, no one slits their wrists and tells anyone about it, and anyone who slits their wrists and fails to die is either inept or they never meant it in the first place.

the worst part wasn't how he carried his guitar with him everywhere, how he would pull a musiciansfriend out of his bag and display it to everyone during class, how everyother word out of his mouth was "guitar" (i never say that awful word now) how (in a group project) he played Two (2) fifteen minute solos (five minutes of which he showed that he could play harmonics)(and going way longer than the group agreed, he left less than 10 minutes for the group) that sacrificed the groups grade for their productions(a fucking C for five people, by far worst grades in the class. and the only reason for the C was because everyone felt sorry for the group), or, how he weasled his way into playing a five minute distorted 80's solo at graduation while the choir was singing (it was actually quite amusing, i wish my dad had taped it)...
it was how he would become friends with people just to use them. he always tried to find ways to become the center of attention. always tried to make people feel sorry for him, even "tried" to "commit suicide" by slashing his wrists. of coarse, he was the one that went around telling everyone about that, i found out from the jackass himself. then, he would use those people for his own ends. just a pure evil manipulative fuck, and his parents were no better, always shielding him and fighting his fights for him. yes, i do wish i would have punched him in the face and not stopped (god himself would have thanked me), but, i'm in a different state now, so i say good riddence.

just to make myself clear, i'm not saying that carrying around a musicial instrument is bad. for some people, it just makes sense (like vwf rehearsing whenever he had time, now that's dedication).

on a side note, i also wish i would have taped the talent show just to show you what i'm talking about, but then, he would've liked the attention. he started out with the starwars theme for about 4 minutes and went into 3 minutes of tremelo picking, and added some lame fingertapping to finish it off. and afterwards he said one line to a friend of mine, but that is a long, long story in itself as to why it still makes me mad, and not worth wasting words on. (i'm talking pages and pages to begin to explain anything) as it is, i am probably making his day by writing about him, so i'll just stop here.

also dan, don't limit yourself to playing guitar with your penis, sculpt and conduct music with it too (by law of the TR Task Force, this thread must digress into talking about masturbation, also known as "Fluffy's Law", or more commonly "The Fluffer's Law")

anyway, to get this thread back on topic, saint jude, what songs did you play at the halloween show?

Yeah, I used to carry my guitar around too. But it was only because I wanted to play at lunch time with my friends. I think you can tell who just carries it around or who knows power chords and nothing else.
victorwootenfan Posted - 11/05/2003 : 10:12:14 AM
I always had my guitar in school, and my friend did too... We were in a band, and i just would play bass lines on the guitar, and my friend would do the actual guitar parts. We were in a band, so we rehearsed before school, during lunch, etc.. but then about half a dozen other kids would start bringing their guitars, and would come sit right next to us, and start playing some blink 182 song or weezer really loudly and really badly... it's annoying...or some of the kids wouldn't even take their guitars out, just carry the case and tell people they played.

posers..

holy shit i knew a guy like that. unbelievable. this kid would carry his guitar from class to class and put it under his desk just so everyone knew he "played." you'll notice play is in quotes because he;d take the guitar iout during studies halls and music theory and start to play. i garuntee you, every guitar player on this board could play better with his penis. i hate people like that. pants happy, you should hav decked him. nothing wrong with that.

i'm sorry, i didn't mean to post such a negative reply. i'm glad you had such a good time, and good luck on future shows.

i'm sorry saint jude, i don't mean to come across like a complete jackass or offend you in any way, but when i see that picture, i want to gouge my eyes out. absolutely nothing against you, but in highschool there was this kid who was a no talent ass clown of a guitar player, and he did buckethead at the "talent show". which, for any normal person, would be ok. but this person was the most arrogant, pompous, self-centered son of a bitch that ever lived. he openly wrote and talked about himself being "the embodiment of buckethead" and randomly and completely unprovoked would say "i play guitar 6 hours a day" and "everyone likes buckethead" (reffering to himself) and "the only reason people came was to see me" (these are actual quotes, i shit you not). and through situations that i'm not going to explain he sacrificed others for himself, i've never wanted to punch someone in the face more. sorry for my ranting, they are just bad memories. i just had to let out some steam. you are ten time the guitarist he was, and a hundred times better a person. and... cool pedal board
victorwootenfan Posted - 11/04/2003 : 10:11:25 AM
that's awesome!! I found out online who buckethead was, but he pretty much is unknown in the real world. lots of people thought he was dweezil, or vai, or... but no, he's just an unknown guy outside the buckethead persona. He's the man tho!

Did anyone find out who BucketHead was?

I always kinda hoped it was Dweezil Zappa.
