I know for many of you this is not something you want to think about. You may even feel it gets crammed down your throat via the media, but the fact is this is a serious epidemic. I am making a donation to this cause. I know many of you don't have the extra money, especially at this time of year, but if you could just take time to think about the many people suffering from this disease and just send positive vibes out to those people, that would be great.
Don't underestimate the power of positive vibes! Money isn't the only thing that can make a difference! |

i don't understand why they've decided to have a day devoted to the awareness of the aids epidemic. if no one really pays attention to it normally, i think that having one day where everyone thinks about it serves only to emphasize how most everyone doesn't really give a fuck who doesn't have it. it's insulting to those who do, and takes a huge chunk of my faith in people away when, for a day, everyone cares, and then the next, because it's no longer aids day, they don't care. if i were someone who was doing everything i could to help, i'd be really pissed of about aids day. |

Bugman, you are probably right about the cure, but I think more in terms of education, especially in Africa where they still think if they have sex with a vigin they will be cured, thus spreading it to thousands of young girls. Also medicines to ease the pain. So many, too many to count in this country and around the world, can not afford the medicines that would help their disease. This is true for numerous diseases but I just focused on Aids because of WAD.
As for a cure, I doubt there will be one in my lifetime, but I hope there is one in yours. (for cancer too)

I hate to say this and dampen the spirit, but I honestly don't think there will ever be a cure for HIV/AIDS. And if there ever is one, I don't think it will be found during our lifetimes. |
