Well Im sure most here are familiar with the man, hes one of my favorite guitarists of all time. Some of the stuff he played when he played it was just incredible. My friends Duende and I recorded this little tribute song. Alex from Duende wrote it last year and it becamse a favorite at our shows. Its a demo but check it out I hope you like it:

We got 2 guitars, mandolin, drums, bass and vox. The first solo in the song is mine. Check Duende out at www.duendeonline.com They broke up and the farewell show is July 1st. They are really great.

im really glad you like the song. Im playing just guitar, I have the first and very last solo.

Alex Radus did the vocals check him out at www.alexradus.com
and maria woodford at www.mariawoodford.com
they used to have a band called duende check them at www.duendeonline.com

Dan I think because Django only had 3 fingers to use well, he was the first to use triads to form a chord. Using the basic root, 3rd and 7th.

i don't know that he invented triads, which are the basis for almost all chords in tonal western harmony. root 3rd 7th, as near as i can tell, are in fact a 7th chord. unless you're talking about some jazz terminology i'm not familiar with.

that song is so sick. is that you on vocals or just on guitar?
rubylith Posted - 06/24/2005 : 10:48:09 AM
yea he was the man.
he was an accomplished banjo player by age 9...YES AGE 9!

he pretty much invented "triads" which are the basis of most jazz chords. You only need 3 notes to color a chord to sound a certain way. Example....root, third, seventh.

Thanks a lot im glad you like it!

Crazy thing about Django is that he only played with his two fingers and still can play circles around most if not all of us around today. He came from a gypsy family and his wagon caught fire with him in it. His hand got pretty messed up, but before that I think he was a really good banjo player.

haha awesome!
some people also say "du jango" but the d is actually silent.

who knows though, he couldnt read and barely could write. his life story is very interesting. this song is a bit inaccurate as far as his grandson which i dont THINK he ever had, or adored as the song suggests. But that is why it is the UNofficial biiopgraphy. hehe

Hmmm... I always figured his name was pronounced "d-yango"... I've learned something from your song!

Django is the shit. I can't play like Django either. There is this guy who used to sit in front of the library all day and play that did pretty good though.

Cool song though, and you guys did a good job on it.
