I just got a sitar, and i figured Tim's improv skill with the sitar might be recorded somewhere. Any help?

I have an off topic question. Does your SN have anything to do with the song "Paranoid Android"?

If only I could find shifting currents. I don't think anything has been decided on whether to put it up on the ftp because it's out of print and all. I remember hearing something about it though.

Shifting Currents also has a track or two that are Sitar involved, at least that's what my ears tell me. Very dynamic album, goes from jazz to eastern/world sound and then to a psuedo-rock closer. So good I think I'll listen to it twice.

Well I've been wondering about this. Does Tim have a sitar now or not? Does he even play the sitar anymore or have plans to play? If he doesn't have one maybe we can get together pitch in and buy him one for his birthday or something eh. I've never heard him play one and I'd love to hear it.

When I first started working for TR, I used to tell people that Sanctuary had Sitar on disc 2. TR heard me telling someone that one nite and corrected me. It is actually a guitar tuned a little differently and he uses a slide, but damned if it doesn't sound just like a sitar. Of course that is what he was going for. So it is not really sitar but it sure is a great imitation, so you may want to check that out as well. ENJOY!!!

PS Welcome aBOARD, parandroidx!!

You definitely will want to check out Tim and Greg's cd "Transmigration". It is a wonderful cd and it also has what you ae looking for.

Sitar: Tracks 2, 7, 11
Mandolin: Tracks 3, 12

Tim even plays violin on a few tracks. I highly recomend this cd.

When I met Tim after his show (11.9.01), I asked him about his sitar playing. He said he didnt own one any longer, because he had to sell it a long time ago, because money was tight. But there might be a recording somewhere, let me know if you find one. On his album "sanctuary" it sounds like he is playing the sitar on one piece, but hes not.

good luck,
Philip
