Great voice, great keys, great songs. Thanks for giving us two decades of great music with Pink Floyd.

So sudden. They were very discreet on him having cancer. They won't even say now what type he had.

It is so sad after the success of Gilmour's On An Island (which he played on) and touring with Gilmour all over Europe and the US. Rick even said it was the most enjoyable tour he ever did. It was even said during the tour that Rick was planning on going into the studio shortly after the tour and start a new solo album.

He was such a key player in Floyd's sound from their psychedelic era, to the progressive era, then to the concept albums era, and even the Division Bell (listen to Maroon, what he plays is just beautiful). You can totally feel something was missing on the Final Cut and Momentary Lapse of Reason. I do like Momentary Lapse of Reason (not really a final cut fan), but the songs sounded better when Rick was back into full form (which you can hear on the live album Delicate Sound of Thunder).

I am sure this is laying heavily on Gilmour's heart, being so close to him, especially recently.

Here's to you Richard Wright, may they have as many Leslie Speakers you want wherever you are.
