So the other weekend I had a chance to meet KRS-ONE. What an amazing individual with knowledge on a vast array of issues. He was spitting a lot of wisdom and it was an amazing experience to see him speak.

Anyway...

I get a call form his publicist and he asked me if I wanted to do a live/loop version of one of his songs and he will jump up and rap over my solo acoustic version. IM LIKE HOLY SHIT...

Now guess where this will be taking place.....

For me, I have been writing a lot in the past 4 months. I think I have written 7 songs. All of them quality. Then I have about 5 unfinished riffs and verses and such.

You got that right.

Thes...it's already a jam room so adding some recording equipment would be no problem! I know when this shit crashes the only thing I am going to want to do is lock myself inside and make music.

HRW is going to make a giant garden at my house and work for free throughout the remainder of his life.

BTW, I have an 88 acre farm if anyone needs a safe haven when the economy crashes.

I was planning on moving to Montana and buying guns, but an established farm would be better. We would need to put up a 12 foot tall perimeter fence with razor AND barbed wire. When this thing crashes for sure, it's gonna take society with it.

Can I turn your barn into my house and a recording studio?

Sorry to hear that Dave. Still cool you got to meet KRS-ONE and who knows what will happen down the road. Keep the faith and keep rocking.

Colbert was right.

Sorry to hear that Dave. That is the second piece of bad "music business" news I got in the past two days. Another friend can't mix in the studio he once did due to the same kind of BS. Hey Dave, it's their loss!

The upside is that they considered you, they WANTED you! They'll wise up and get their ducks in a row for another project, you can bet on it!

BTW, I was going to go to the NYC show, but I can't. I am going to hear Ravi Shankar in Philly the next day. This will be Ravi's last performance anywhere and I don't want to miss it. He is 88 years old and still puts on a 2-3 hour concert. I have limited funds now so I have to pick shows carefully. I will catch TR3 again, saw them in August, this time I had to pick Ravi! Ya know Dave, you would love his show. No words can describe what hearing him is like. There is a whole ambiance that is just too hard to explain.

fuck that shit. respond with violence.
rubylith Posted - 09/24/2008 : 3:08:24 PM
The music business is like a coke deal gone wrong. Well as I thought ( in the back of my head) this isn't going to happen. There's infighting between promoters yada yada I don't know but there won't be enough time for me to do my set. All well, I knew I should have waited before opening my mouth. All well, still cool they considered me and are keeping me in mind for other projects. Thanks for the support anyway guys and gals! Now to look forward to Ohio!

p.s. anyone going to the NYC show in October?

Congrats Dave... one piece of advice, though... get the pants-soiling out of the way PRIOR to going on stage. You want to avoid becoming the wrong type of youtube legend...

BIG Congrats man!

WOW! congrats. That is amazing to say you played at MSG. When would that be?
PJK Posted - 09/23/2008 : 5:46:24 PM
Congratulations Dave! You certainly deserved the call! Your music is awesome, I love it. Thanks too for the CD. I meant to send you a formal thank you, but then some family matters came up and I didn't get it done. The CD was very much appreciated and I love the sound! You've got so much talent!
EnlightenThis Posted - 09/23/2008 : 5:01:37 PM
congratulations. take that opportunity and run with it. bon voyage
rubylith Posted - 09/23/2008 : 4:02:47 PM
Thanks guys! I'm freaking out, what a great opportunity. They called me too? Fucking surreal! I will be sure to post videos. As of right now I am still awaiting final confirmation, hopefully by this evening or tomorrow. I don't get nervous in front of crowds, but again, I have never played for a CROWD that size. We'll see....holy shitballs.
Arthen Posted - 09/23/2008 : 3:59:22 PM
What's so great about playing in a garden?

Seriously though, congrats Dave! That's a whole new world man. I'll anxiously await videos on youtube of the performance.
dan p. Posted - 09/23/2008 : 3:40:36 PM
no. fucking. way.

this, scientifically speaking, makes you the man. i'd say congrats, but that doesn't quite cover it. madison square garden is the big boy pants.

the real question is, how nervous are you going to be. i hear that place is pretty big.
