I thought everyone could use a good shower, so I got this together... Enjoy!
Peek Monday at Perseid Meteors By Discovery News Aug. 12 — The Perseid meteor shower peaks Monday night, and the Northern Hemisphere is expected to have excellent views of the annual show.
So called because the meteors appear to come out of the constellation Perseus, the heaviest Perseid showers will send up to 80 meteors per hour across the northeast sky at about 2:00 a.m. ET, for mid-northern latitudes. For non-night owls, the showers will be visible against a very dark sky in the late evening, though they won't be as intense, according to NASA.
The Perseid meteor showers rain down each August when the Earth runs through the debris from comet Swift-Tuttle. The meteors are caused when the sand-sized particles from the debris slam into Earth's atmosphere at 132,000 miles per hour (59 kilometer sec), rubbing atmospheric molecules into a brief glow. Comet Swift-Tuttle was first recorded by the Chinese in 69 B.C., and the Perseid meteors were first written about in 36 A.D.
The best way to watch the Perseids is to lie beneath the night sky in a reclining lawn chair, according to Gary Kronk, author of the book "Cometography."
"If you're in the Northern Hemisphere, the display is best observed if you lay with your feet pointing somewhere between the southern and eastern horizon and look straight up," Kronk explains on his Web site. "If you are in the Southern Hemisphere lay with your feet pointing northward and look to the region about halfway up from the horizon.

So did anyone see anything? Unfortunately I didnt see a thing, my roommate and I walked around campus pulling on doors, trying to find an unlocked one that would lead us to a roof of one of the school buildings, unfortunately by the time we found some, the friggin fog rolled in and we couldnt see the sky (an unfortunate side effect of living on the coast) :-( On the plus-side, I did bring my camera and i got some really cool pictures of the campus from high up at night.
