Saddam was captured today. Wow. I almost didn't think it would happen, but I'm glad it did.

Maybe this means we'll be able to pull out sooner. I hope so.

Weird, just last night we were watching Live From Bagdhad, an HBO movie about CNN covering the first gulf war. We were talking about Saddam and I said that I thought he was dead.

This is good news.

we caught saddam and now we're bragging about it like it didn't take us months and billions of dollars to find a man that was hiding in shallow holes in the ground. congratulations on doing what police dogs do on a daily basis for free in only about 10 times as much time. that's what we should have done. just sent some smell hounds in. can someone please explain why it is that we have the strongest, richest, most technolgically advanced army in the world ever, and we still can't find a guy who's hiding under some boards? my 6 year old cousin loves to play hide and seek.

Because he hasn't been in THAT spot for the past several months. He's been all over the place.

I don't think it should've taken as long as it did, but I honestly don't think I could've done a better job.

I think it's easy to say: "It should be easy, we are the most advanced army." etc, etc. But he was a high official in Iraq for the past thirty years, in that time I imagine he set up many webs of loyalty and exploited them to full advantage during this time.

Where do you live? Some of my tax $ goes to paying for the care and use of our police dogs! They don't work for free even though they ofcourse don't get anything but a pat on the head and an extra biscuit! We pay for their use.

As for Saddam, yes I am glad they found him, no, I didn't think it should or would be easy, but I still question the mission. Still no weapons of mass destruction. Hummmm. Find those and then I might be impressed!

Yes Saddam was a cruel man who killed thousands of people, but look at North Korea. I don't see Bush trying to mess with them. Difference, they have nukes! There are also many African nations where the same atrocities go on, yet I never hear anything about us freeing those people. Since when is it the US policy to create democracies?

Yes this is a victory for Bush and all of us, I suppose, but it makes me mad that now the purpose of the war is shifting to meet political needs. "Getting Saddam" was never the original motivation, or so they said.

I dont' think it's any big deal that we got him. I'll be impressed when the get Bush, Cheney, Powell etc. for the war crimes they've commited. Like that's ever going to happen. At least with the US voting against a standing war crimes court. Well I leave it at that I think I've said enough.
