Meh, not that great. But that's from a person who thought the first one was incredibly overrated.

Halo 2 is highly enjoyable. I've been playing it with the residents who live on my floor. Thanks to the network in the building, we've been getting 8-12 player games going.

What I find amazing is that there are complete walkthroughs already available at gamefaqs.com.

Yeah, my coworker bought that the day it came out and didn't sleep that night. He beat the game in like two days. I haven't played the new one yet, but I will admit, the first one was one damn fine game.

what's more amazing still is that there are people who need walkthroughs for halo 2. and while i haven't played it, i'm almost certain it's a fairly straight foward game. but when you consider how good the average xbox player is at videogames, maybe it isn't all that stunning. xbox's marketing was directed at the people who used to beat up people who played videogames in gym class. they have no need of good games because they have girls and friends and sports and beer. microsoft whored out our heritage to people who'll play it for madden 2k whatever. and for 13 year olds who are easily wowed by flashy graphics and 0 gameplay. gamecube is for children? no, xbox is for children. children and people who think playing a game with colors isn't cool, and that their games are much cooler. how about you ask your girlfriend how cool? no girlfriend? i rest my case. if you play videogames, welcome to dorksville.

i was in eb games not all that long ago and staring me right in the face was a guide for fucking mortal kombat. what an extrodinary thing. i got your walkthrough right here: beat the shit out of your opponent until the game tells you you've won. bam. there's your guide. walkthroughs are stupid anyone. call me a purist, but i think that the second you pick one of these up, you've stopped playing and started pressing whatevr buttons the book tells you. they have a simon says game like that.

Behold, my first contribution to the internet...

I was WAY into Mortal Kombat when I was in grade school. I typed this up with MS-EDIT back in 1994. Gamepro used it for their guide and gave me credit, and that's worth some cool points.

This also proves I've been using the name therippa for a very long time.

Mortal Kombat 2 ruled. I wasn't overly fond of Mortal Kombat 3. I bought MK Annihilation or something like that for XBox...it sucked. I own an XBox and a Gamecube and while the Gamecube games are fun, I do thoroughly enjoy the XBox. All I play are NCAA Football, NHL Hockey and now Halo 2. Halo 2 is actually kind of a pain in the ass. It's not difficult in terms of where to go, just difficult to "beat the crap out of your opponents" on the harder levels.

I've owned almost every Nintendo system and PS one. PS 2's graphics suck in my opinion, as do Gamecube's, but at least Gamecube has some really fun games. SuperMonkeyBall has ridiculous replay/multiplayer value. I'm thoroughly disappointed with the Zelda series. The WindWaker was a piece of cake to beat and the graphics are ridiculously weird. The best one in my mind remains the Ocarina of Time. That series went way down hill when it hit Gamecube in my opinion.

Random question: Left my gamecube on for hours on end and the thing burned out (although considering how long I owned it, it shouldn't have). Do I have any recourse? I want to pick up another one, especially this deal with Metroid Prime...but I don't want to have to drop $100 on it.

The best Zelda game was Link's Awakening. SNES is the best system, but that's a tired debate.

MK2 did rule, I ruled ass with Reptile.

has anyone here played the new Bard's Tale game for ps2? i bought it the day it came out, and although the combat can get repetitive (it also uses the snowblind/dark alliance 2 engine, and the graphics look dated), the story and the dialogue are pure gold, and the voice acting is better than in any game i've ever played (not to mention Cary Elwes (a.k.a. Wesley from The Princess Bride) does the voice for the bard).

I'm always going to have an attachment to the original NES. It was my first and I had it right until Playstaiton 1 came out. I skipped the whole genesis/snes generation.

Games like Megaman 3 and 4, Punch out, Mario 1 & 3, Zelda
I lived and breathed these games. I had such an attention span for the same repetitive shit too.

Some other great games I recently discovered in my ROM craze :
Blades of Steel, River City Ransom, Bomberman 2

Tim, come to Canada!

I miss my SNES damnit. I'm going to try to find one on ebay. Secret of Mana was awesome. Some of the games for that system were the perfect balance between reasonable graphics and excellent gameplay. NES was fantastic too, but that's why we have NESticle I guess. I have a SNES emulator but it's really not the same.
