Starting to really love this music. Anyone else too? If you haven't heard them check them out, theyre incredible. Jazz guitarist John Mclaughlin w/ tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain(sp?) as well as various other instruments depending on the album. Violin, mandolin, flute, and misc. percussion instruments have been part of the Shakti projects, and in a fuse of jazz and indian music, it's some of the most incredible music I've heard.
One track, called Maya, off of one of their albums reminds me of TR's GOTN. JM's got some spooky lines.. |

| TR went and saw Zakir Hussain play just about a month ago in NM. He went to that and Ministry in the same nite. Early for Zakir, late for Minitstry. He said the Zakir performance blew him away. He was having a hard TIMe describing how unbelieveable it was. Said you really have to experience it. We met a drunk guy at Sweetwaters on the last run thru there who claimed to know him and wanted to try and get he and TR together which I thought was a brilliant idea. Of course, nothing ever came from it. Oh well, we'll see what happens down the road. As has been discussed many TIMes on the board, TR and myself are HUGE Shakti fans. No surprise there. LOL |
