Yeah, I was one of the people who replied to that, I'm a big Lindsey fan! Too bad I don't get cable, I hope someone tapes that.

PS I'd definitely be interested in checking out some of those rare videos. Be sure to let me know when/if you put them up for download somewhere.

Thanks!

Hey Xar666, here is the link to the thread of which you spoke.

http://www.timreynolds.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=246

Everyone can review the earlier comments on this subject. It actually started as a Pink Floyd thread called "Any Pink Floyd fans out there" or something like that.

Tasty!!!! Hey Xar, have you ever read a book called Equisite Corpse? I think it is by Poppy Z Brite. I may have the author wrong, but the title is definitely right. You should check it out. I think you would really dig it. I read it on the last tour. I ended up reading the really extreme parts to T'n'T. They were not amused. But I think you will be.

HUGE news I just read today... finally. An October 3rd release date for Lindsey's new acoustic cd... his first since 92. Then, a nationa; tour, and in 2007, a electric follow-up. (Sound like anyone we know?). Anyways, I've been hearing on and off again news of this release for years now, so a release date has me quite excited, and the possibiluty of seeing him live, solo is even more orgasmic!

Here is the exact article:

Music
'No drums, very little bass' on Buckingham's new CD

Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham is about to unveil his first solo CD since 1992's Out of the Cradle. He describes the stripped-down arrangements on Under the Skin, due Oct. 3, as "kind of a reduction. There are basically no drums, very little bass. On a musical level, I've been trying to distill things."

Skin also reflects a sense of contentment, he says, that owes much to his wife, Kristen, and their three children. "This is the best time in my life, and that's a great thing to be able to say when you're 56, and didn't become a father till you were 48."

He plans a "more rocking" companion CD in 2007, after a U.S. tour. "It's a turnaround, time-frame-wise, for someone who's been sort of the Terrence Malick of rock," referring to the reclusive director.

1992 to 2006! Wow, that's even longer than PG!

Can't wait to hear this one.

I was uber excited when I found out about the new CD. Can't wait! Does anyone know if they're all new songs or maybe he's going to put some of his old unreleased stuff on there? My favorite unreleased are Down on Rodeo and Shuffle Riff. Also, does this mean Fleetwood Mac isn't touring anymore? Was their album in 2003 just a one time deal? Or is this Lindsey Buckingham solo just a side project?

Awesome!! Down on Rodeo is such a good song. Maybe now that it's going to be released, I'll be able to find a tab for it.

But probably not....besides Go Insane and Big Love, it's impossible to find any of his tabs online. Even Red Rover and Say Goodbye which were on the "Say You Will" Fleetwood Mac album. Side note: does anyone happen to know of a good Lindsey Buckingham tab site?

So would going to a Lindsey Buckingham concert and screaming "BIG LOVE!!!!" be the equivalent of screaming for Stream at a TR concert?

So has anyone else gotten this yet? I think it is absolutely amazing, and is getting rave critical reviews already. The first song is so beautiful, and my favorties so far are "Show You How" and "I am Waiting" which when I heard it on the DVD, had no idea it was a Rolling Stones cover.

The show was great! When I got there, my first surprise was that they allowed cameras. I left mine in the car assuming that they wouldn't be allowed, but I asked the guy at the door and he said yes! So I immediately ran back to my car and got my camera. The Grove was set up differently than when I was there about a year ago to see Modest Mouse. Then it was all general admission standing room, but for Lindsey, it was all tables and chairs. Doors were at 6:00, and part of the ticket was a $20 voucher towards diner, which I thought was cool, and made the ticket price a little more bearable. Diner was good too, and they had New Castle on draft. Yay!

The show was about 1/3 solo, and 2/3 with a band. He played a bunch of the new songs, a few Fleetwood Mac tunes, and a few old solo jems. The highlights for me were "I Know I'm Not Wrong" (One of my favorite tracks off Tusk) "Holiday Road" (Rare jem off the National Lampoon's Vacation cd I think), "Not Too Late" (1st track off the new cd), and of course "So Afraid" because of the blistering guitar solo that ended with Lindsey throwing his guitar across stage! Here is the setlist:

Not Too Late
Trouble
Never Going Back Again
Second Hand News
Cast Away Dreams
Red Rover
It Was You
Big Love
Go Insane
Under the Skin
World Turning
I'm So Afraid
I Know I'm Not Wrong
Tusk
Go Your Own Way
---
Holiday Road
Show You How
Save Me A Place
Bleed To Love Her

I actually had some pictures turn out pretty good I thought. Since I was sitting at a table, and in the 2nd section up from the stage I was surrounded by people and didn't want to distract them at all, so I wasn't really trying to take good pics, just snapping some discrete ones, but like I said, I was pretty happy with how a bunch came out. During Big Love, there was this huge spotlight coming from stage left that made for some really cool pics. Here are a few of my favorites:

From CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/Music/04/13/canceledconcert.ap/index.html

=============================================

Theater upset by Lindsey Buckingham behavior

OMAHA, Nebraska (AP) -- The managers of a Lincoln theater say Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham's "diva-like behavior" doomed his concert there this week, and that the sound system he blames was not the problem.

In a message on Buckingham's Web site, "technical difficulties related to sound" were blamed for Wednesday's cancellation. Buckingham's message said the theater in downtown Lincoln refused Buckingham's request to use his own equipment to supplement its sound system.

"Lindsey prides himself on delivering the very best performance and production for every show, but in this case he wasn't able to do so," Buckingham's message said. "Lindsey hopes his fans in Lincoln will understand, and he looks forward to returning to Lincoln but under much better conditions."

Buckingham has been touring since October in support of his first solo album in 14 years, "Under the Skin."

Rococo Theatre events director Pam Gregorios said this was the first time it has ever had a performer cancel a show.

"Rococo staff and management were put off by his diva-like behavior ... and wondered if he always felt it necessary to be so rude to people who are simply trying to put on a good show," Gregorios said.

Buckingham's representatives did not immediately respond to questions e-mailed to them Thursday afternoon.

But a section of the Web site about the guitars Buckingham uses included a quote about how the equipment he uses isn't that important.

"It's all in the player really," Buckingham said to Rolling Stone magazine in 1979. "Look at somebody like Hendrix. It didn't matter what guitar he had or even if it was in tune. The thing is, if you can connect, you can get anything you want out of an instrument. There's no dream instrument that could give you everything. You just have to use your imagination."

Buckingham spent an hour checking the sound at the theater and rehearsing a couple songs before deciding to cancel about an hour before show time, Gregorios said.

"I can only speculate as to the disappointment of the six hundred and some odd fans who arrived to find the show canceled," Gregorios said.

Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975 but exited the group in 1987 over creative differences. The group has reunited twice since then for albums and tours.

Ticket holders will receive refunds.

Oh yeah, no doubt LB has some 'diva-like' tendencies...i dont think thats a big secret.

As is the case with many gifted artists, LB's sense of reality is skewed (more so than you or I probably)...likely because he hears music in his head every waking second of his life. Prince also comes to mind here immediately.

LB's a studio junkie, spends way too much time 'touching up' his albums before they come out (what, like 15 years between this one and the last?), and even in concert is meticulous about things 'sounding just right' (watch him play sonsgs alone on the "Rumors" episode of Classic Albums on VH1).

I dont know if he was as fucked up as the rest of Mac back in the 70s, but he certainly was sober enough to take over that band from the production end of things...and he never really looked back. If he wasnt pumping stuff out, I doubt we'd see Fleetwood Mac every ten years...certainly not promoting new albums.

Therefore, it doesn't surprise me at all that he'd spaz out over speakers, let alone play similar (if not identical) setlists--including banter--from show to show, because he is a control freak and the music better sound the way it does in his head or else he's back on the bus.

So the cornhuskers get short-changed and he looks like a dick...which I am sure he is..albeit a profusely talented dick who hears music in his head 24/7.

If Im not mistaken, the guy playin bass for him co-produced some Mac records and some of his solo stuff. Im guessing its because he's one of the eight people in the world who LB trusts to perform with him.
