I got my new Guild guitar the other day. It is AWESOME! I got the GAD-40CE. http://guildguitars.com/instruments/search.php?partno=3810405821

Solid spruce top, solid mahogany back sides and neck. INDIAN Rosewood fretboard and bridge. Bone nut and bridge. Abalone inlays on the neck. Pearl inlay on the headstock. Then unique binding, dark mahogany binding! It is a binding made out of a darker piece of mahogany, very classy and more impressive than standard white or black binding. Plus it has a Fishman Acoustic Matrix Natural 1 built in (no preamp). It also comes with a really nice tweed and leather case (which is a very high quality one, that should last the life of the guitar, which should last my whole life).

I can't believe the action on this guitar. It looks like it's a little high. But once you fret it it goes down so easily you think it has low action, but there is no buzz. Also when I fret a barred F chord at the first fret (which is hard for me to do sometimes without a lot of buzzing) it was comfortable and no buzzing in sight. The intonation is perfect. And this sucker is LOUD! It has a HUGE punch. And it doesn't matter if you are strumming it, flat picking, or finger picking. It is loud. I was going for a guitar with punch, but still with warmth, this has it and more. Also, it is surprisingly light even though the woods are thick, the finish is standard, and no shortcuts that damage the quality. But it really packs a punch. It feels fine too with a strap.

This is my dream guitar, and I am so happy.

Oh, by the way, her name is Tinuviell (which is Elvish for Nightingale)

Going to get my arms around Tinuviell for the night. I'm in love.

Congrats! There are few things that are better than a new guitar!

You should re-record your Tim Tribute song with it so we can hear it...

Congratulations! I love getting a new guitar. There is nothing like playing and playing a brand new guitar. Everything always seems so fresh on a new guitar. I also find that new guitars lead to new songs and styles, which is always good.

I look forward to hearing some tunes from you on that new axe.

I know nothing about that guitar...but it definitely looks pretty sweet.

I've never played a 7-string either. I think I might have to make a point to give it a shot sometime.

Post about the guitar after/if you buy one.

I think I might shell out a little extra cash and get the model with the neck-thru design rather than bolt on. And I don't really like the bat inlays that one has. The flat black finish is cool though.

I've played around with 7's at Guitar Center and I always have fun with them. I also mess around quite a bit with my pitch shifter setting on my multi effects with it set to shift everything down so that the low E is actually B, just like a 7 string. I've written a few tunes/riffs that way, but using the pitch shifter gets very muddy if you actually try to play anything other than single notes, which is why I'm thinking of the 7 string.

i'm in the market for a new 7-string. i like to tune the low b down to a and just grind out the metal.

death to false metal.

Exactly, it doesn't get much heavier than what you can do with a 7 string. I'm still kind of comparison shopping between Ibanez, ESP and Schecter but I'm pretty well convinced that the Schecter C-7 will be my new axe.

If you want a pitch shifter that you can play chords with, get either the POG or the HOG. I own the POG (Polyphonic Octave Generator) from Electro Harmonix. It is just awesome. I love playing it so my acoustic sounds just like an 18 string, have my electric sound like a bass, have it sound like a baritone, or make it so that it sounds like an organ! I have even managed to get it to sound like a steel drum, seriously! The HOG is just the step up from the POG. Instead of just octaves, you can do 5ths and more.

I have 0 experience with Schecter, and not familiar with 7 strings at all. So I don't know what to tell ya.

I also had my first accident with my guitar. It got dropped on it's but, and on the binding, some of the finish cracked. I was worried, but then looked over and saw my savior. A NAIL BUFFER! So I started using the light file, then the buffer, then the finisher, then the shiner. You can't even tell there was a problem now.

Edit: I just tried it with my Fishman Aura, INCREDIBLE! Sounds like if I was to mic it, there is 0% difference that I can tell.
