i just thought that everyone should know, in accordance with my mandatory pubilc service announcement ruling, that there are some kick-ass games coming out. two, in particular, come out around the 11th of may:
the megaman anniversary collection (which i've mentioned before) contains megaman 1-8 (all of the orginal nintendo games), + two megaman arcade games for about $30. that's $3 a game!!! (ps2 and gamecube).
another game that looks kind of cool is a transformers game for the ps2. here's a link to a preview:
http://gamespot.com/ps2/action/transformersarmada/preview_6093510.html
also, there's a game coming out in sept. called "demon stone". it's a dnd action game, produced by the same company that made LOTR: TTT game. at first it sounds weird and a little iffy, but the more of the preview you read, the better it gets. i think this one is also single player (which is one of the things that makes it iffy to me.) http://ps2.gamespy.com/playstation-2/forgotten-realms-demon-stone/506538p1.html

yeah, but i've beaten them. the lotr games, the hobbit, zelda, eternal darkness, crystal chronicles (practically), resident evils, silent hill, jedi outcast. and then games that you don't really beat, but play a lot, like smash bros and double dash. hopefully ill get harvest moon soon.
my point is simply that instead of making mario party 138569684, which is not only the same as the other mario parties, but terrible to boot, they should make games that don't suck so bad. they keep on pinching out these turds of games that are just terrible. like that wario game that used to be for gba but is now for cube, except it's exactly the same, graphics, ridiculous concepts and everything. and then there's the typical rpg games that they crank out once in a while that aren't bad, but aren't noteworthy.
i don't know what they were thinking selling rareware. perfect dark 0 was shaping to be un-fucking-real. and they sold off the company that developed it. what they need is another good fps and a decent mario game (sunshine was terrible.) i also haven't seen a donkey kong game. what. the. fuck.
edit: i forgot to mention timesplitters 2. what an incredible multiplayer. wow. |

wow, i just checked at amazon.com for the release dates for transformers and the megaman collection, and here's what it said:

2 used & new from $49.99
Based on customer purchases, this is the #72 Early Adopter Product in Video Games.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000V48MA/qid=1082234286/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1_etk-vg/102-6575811-2296921?v=glance&s=videogames&n=468642
either they are a day late and a dollar short, or they've found a way to travel through time, most likely for some diabolical reason involving the sale of video games. we're all doomed.

nothing blows zelda: ocarina of time out of the water. nothing. and nothing blows final fantasy X out of the water.
baldur's gate is just another rpg with some pretty sweet features. i've never played champions of norrath, so i can't really say anything about it. |

(man i feel like a postwhore!)
so dan, did you actually semi-like dark alliance 2? i have to admit, it's not as ground-breaking as the first one, but it's still fun. as for final fantasy, i'm going to have to be a total nerd and argue for final fantasy 3 (US). i know it doesn't have voice acting, more realistic combat and graphics and such, but it had amazing graphics back in the day, and what i think is still one of the best stories in a videogame (i know, that's just my opinion. but what an opinion!) anyway, i digress. |

it didn't really hold my interest long enough. it's one of those games that's so mediocre that it might as well be terrible. pretty much all the final fantasies are fantastic as far as i can tell. crystal chronicles is the one worst of them, but it still is pretty sweet. then again, it doesn't really follow in the steps of the other ffs. ffx is easily the 2nd best game i've ever played, only to zelda: oot, and even that's a toss up. |

that's pretty much what i thought about champions of norrath. speaking of hack and slash, the return of the king was ok, but it just wasn't that fun to me (repetitively dying until you figure out what you're suppose to do, and then it's a cakewalk after you figure it out). i think that the genre needs more games spouting revolution rather than evolution. but hey, just because other people like them doesn't mean i can't hate them.
as far as the legend of zelda goes, i'm pretty much torn between ocarina of time and a link to the past. the wind waker is right up there, but it just seemed too short.

i don't seem to recall dying repeatedly. what you have to so seemed pretty straight foward. kill these fuckers, launch some shit, blow up some stuff, climb some ruins, that sort of thing. i think that the only thing that held windwaker back was that given a lot of the situations, the cel-shading was inappropriate. imagine the final fight between between you and gannon as the remnants of hyrule drown. that looking like some kind of kid's game didn't seem right to me, although seeing a heavily animated gannon with the master sword protruding from his face was faintly amusing. link to the past was real good, but i mean, come on. oot, dude. that's the best game i have ever played. hands down.
majora's mask could have been better. there was nothing wrong with it, persay. in fact, i rather liked the urgency the game had to it. and wandering through the empty streets on the 3 night with no one but the kids playing in the streets is brutal. |

Man, I put so many hours into that game. Almost as much as FFVII.
I remember one day I played for almost 13 hours straight... |

i don't know about that. it's like comparing apples to the (coolest) father of apples. the last time i pulled a link to the past out, i actually found another upgrade for the master sword (from the forged orange version to the golden yellow version). both games have really cool bosses, but one thing that especially sticks out in my mind in a link to the past is when you have to actually bring the boss (the woman) (in the 6th dungeon in the dark world, i think) into the room with sunlight before you can even fight her. they spared nothing on that game (not like they didn't with OoT). there was just nothing they couldn't do on the super nintendo. if i was stuck on a desert island and torn between the two (a desert island with electricity), i probably just toss a coin.

i've never really played majora's mask. i didn't have it for the n64, however i did get it in the zelda collections disc. but, i just can't play it on that disc. they did an extremely crappy job of porting it the the gamecube, so they might've well just left it out. pirated copies of games on the internet have more effort stuffed into them. lazy bastards.
oh, and as for my mega man collections 'advertisement' on top, they delayed the damn game again till the end of june. you'd think they could handle porting nes games, but i guess not. now 2 more months at least.

Well with all the talk about video games, I ran across a site that some of you may be interested in. It's a guy who has taken several Final Fantasy musical pieces and has arranged them for solo piano. It's fantastic. I suggest checking out his version of the FF7 Main Theme.
