Posted - 03/07/2007 : 12:44:25 PM As I am currently jaunting around the Pacific NW, I have seen an inordinate number of stores owned by the scumbag coffee chain Starbucks. Now, there are tons of small coffee shops round this way that have WAY better coffee, but people still flood into that goddamn place. (This is obviously prompted by the fast food thread in FASB Forum)
Dammit, Tim. Drink different coffee. |

Posted - 04/17/2007 : 01:35:17 AM Yes... When Tim comes to Boston, we should chill. Skip the "picking" and emphasize "drinking." Stop by Borders some time, and give me a wringing. remember my name is Dan too. |

HRW, I applaud your effort to talk pretty, but I think the right interrogative in this case would have been "willst" and not "whilst" |

Posted - 03/14/2007 : 06:03:01 AM FWIW, last night Tim said that he's been enjoying the great European coffee and hasn't frequented Starbuck's over here except in the UK, where the coffee apparently isn't so great. (They are tea people after all.)
Note: show "review" (if you can call that) is here. |

Posted - 03/12/2007 : 5:58:16 PM Just so ya know, someTIMes the TR's do try other coffee. While in Portland the last TIMe Marcus treated them to Stumptown coffee which was well recieved. I took one of the guys I am currently on tour with to the same coffee shop yesterday morning as we left Portland and he thought it was fine coffee as well. |

He does great Syd Barret/Pink Floyd and Bob Dylan covers. His whole album of Bob Dylan covers is just fantastic. "Visions of Johanna" is superb. |

Posted - 03/07/2007 : 3:48:42 PM I'm a Barista, and I know what you mean. But... Starbucks basically started the craze, so without them some of the little shops wouldn't be around. As far as the snobs, of course there are some, I think you're just being bitter . |

Shit yeah! When I drink it, straight hot and black is the only way to go. I like singing a song called "Nietzsche's Way" by Robyn Hitchcock, where does that put me? |

Posted - 03/07/2007 : 2:13:58 PM I would say, as a patron of both excellent local coffee houses and Starbucks, Starbucks has some of the best coffee. Especially the kind you can buy in shop and take home. The Sumatra is fantastic.
Sometimes I wish I hadn't given up coffee, but they have some good teas too. |
